Silkyara fame rescuer faces a never-before challenge in Nepal: 'Multiple potential rescues'
India, Sept. 7 -- Australian tunnel expert Arnold Dix, who played a key role in rescuing 41 workers from the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel in 2023, is drawing on that experience as he leads a complex search-and-rescue operation in Nepal - where massive flash floods on August 26 left a devastating trail.
In a post on X on Monday, Dix said he is facing something he has never faced before. "Right now, in Nepal, we are facing something I have never faced before."
"Not one rescue - but multiple potential rescues, unfolding at the same time, in different places, each with its own dangers, uncertainties and lives that may still be saved."
