India, May 8 -- A helicopter carrying Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde was caught in a spell of strong winds and thunderstorm near Airoli on Thursday, prompting the chopper to return to Mumbai, officials said. Shinde was accompanied by three of his staff members, two pilots and a crew member. The incident took place in the afternoon when Shinde was travelling to Kalyan to attend two weddings at the residences of Shiv Sena party workers. "After the helicopter took off from Mahalaxmi Racecourse at around 4pm, the pilot realised near Airoli that the helicopter was caught in winds and thunderstorm.
