Shah reviews security situation to help restore peace in state
New Delhi, July 5 -- Union home minister Amit Shah reviewed Manipur's security situation on Saturday evening during a meeting with the state's police chief, security advisor, DGMO, and chiefs of Assam Rifles, CRPF and BSF in New Delhi.
According to people aware of the matter, Shah is likely to soon hold a video conference with Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh.
The home ministry is yet to issue a statement, but an official privy to details of Saturday's meeting, said: "We have been told that all chiefs were directed to work on finding ways to bring the communities together and ensure that the highways are open while continuing the crack down on those with arms, who are threatening villagers or involved in extortion.
