India, April 6 -- A masked man in a car broke through an iron gate and barriers at the Delhi legislative assembly complex around 2 pm on Monday, and left after a rather weird act, in what is being treated as a major security breach.

The man drove through Gate 2, which is used for VIPs; then got out of the car, proceeded to place a bouquet on the porch, and drove away, HT has learnt.

His car had an Uttar Pradesh registration number. He hit the tall iron gate as well as a boom barrier.

Further details are awaited.

Authorities are treating it as a potential security breach, as per an assembly official.
