sc's 3-day spl lok adalat resolves 1,700 civil cases
New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- Over 1,700 civil dispute cases were resolved in three days at the Supreme Court's three-day Special Lok Adalat, organised as part of Samadhan Samaroh, an official released said on Monday.
The event featured several firsts as judges, senior advocates and advocates-on-record (AoR) decided the cases by helping litigants reach an amicable settlement. This was also the first time judges held court on a Sunday, otherwise a non-working day.
According to the release, the special sitting held from August 21-23 listed over 3,200 cases, resolving, withdrawing, or settling 1,712 between parties, marking an over 50% success rate in case disposal, with a total amount of over Rs.240 crore was disbursed by way of compensation, pending...
