New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday pulled up the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for failing to ensure sanitation and upkeep around the 700-year-old Lodi-era Gumti of Shaikh Ali monument in Defence Colony, warning the civic body that officers will be held accountable for disobeying its orders. A bench of justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and SVN Bhatti directed MCD commissioner Ashwani Kumar, who was summoned to court, to submit a time-bound proposal for completing the pending cleaning, electrification, and maintenance works.
