New Delhi, May 30 -- The Supreme Court on Friday issued binding guidelines for strengthening the rescue and rehabilitation measures for survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation as it asked Centre to draw up a "victim protection plan" that can provide an exhaustive legal framework to combat trafficking and ensure a dignified rehabilitation of survivors. The judgment came in a 2004 public interest litigation (PIL) filed by NGO Prajwala which sought a robust mechanism to combat human trafficking, a victim protection protocol, and a dedicated investigative agency with interstate and cross-border linkage.
