New Delhi, Oct. 6 -- The Centre has notified the appointment of three high court chief justices as Supreme Court judges, a week after their elevation was recommended by the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant. The appointments take the Supreme Court's strength to 37, including the CJI, and increase the number of women judges to three. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed the appointments in a post on X. "In exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India is pleased to appoint the following Chief Justices of high courts as judges of the Supreme Court of India," he said.
