riyadh, April 9 -- A key Saudi oil pipeline to the Red Sea was hit in a drone attack hours after a ceasefire in the war in the Middle East, according to a person familiar with the matter.
A pumping station along the route was targeted, and the damage is still being assessed, the person said, asking not to be identified because the details are not public. Saudi Aramco declined to comment.
The East-West pipeline has served as a vital lifeline for getting oil from Saudi Arabia's vast fields along the Persian Gulf to the port of Yanbu on the western Red Sea coast, effectively bypassing the largely closed Strait of Hormuz.
