India, Sept. 22 -- The ongoing El Nino in the Pacific Ocean has reached record levels months before it is expected to peak. According to US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data, the average ocean temperature in the Nino 3.4 region in the Pacific Ocean, used as a benchmark to measure El Nino conditions, was 3.05degC above average on Saturday, beating the 3.02degC record of November 2015. The current El Nino is likely to peak in November-December, and NOAA predicts it is likely to persist till March-May 2027, with a 55% probability of neutral conditions between April and June.HTC
