India, Sept. 17 -- The "routine" transfer of Muslim Indian Police Service officer Bushara Bano in West Bengal has triggered sharp reactions, with the Opposition alleging it to be linked to her recent 'Assalamalaikum & Inshallah' greeting.

Bushara Bano, who was serving as the Additional Superintendent of Police in Kharagpur (Paschim Medinipur), was on Monday transferred and appointed as the Deputy Commandant of the State Armed Police 4th Battalion, HT earlier reported.

Bano's transfer came a day after a Hindu rights group said on X it filed a complaint against the 2021-batch IPS officer over her using Islamic greetings instead of saying "Vande Mataram" or "Jai Hind" in a social media video.
