Ayodhya, Dec. 16 -- Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker Ram Vilas Vedanti, who also played a key role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, died in a hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa on Monday. He was 67. According to people familiar with the details, Vedanti's health suddenly deteriorated on Wednesday while he was on a visit to Rewa for a religious discourse. He was immediately admitted to Superspecialty Hospital in Rewa and passed away during treatment. Superspecialty Hospital superintendent Akshay Srivastava said: "When he was admitted, he had blood poisoning infection, which had spread significantly.
