PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 14 -- Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday hit back at the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks against PM Narendra Modi regarding foreign policy, saying he would not have been elected even as a corporator in Prayagraj had he not been born into the Gandhi family.

"It is the misfortune of the country that Rahul Gandhi is today the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha," Maurya said while talking to media persons in Prayagraj. He alleged that Gandhi did not exercise restraint over what he should or should not say and, because of his "ego and arrogance," wasted the entire Parliament session.
