Punjab unit's rift on display again at protest over rising sugar prices
Chandigarh, Aug. 27 -- The Punjab Congress' protest against rising sugar prices on Wednesday once again exposed factionalism in the state unit, with several prominent leaders, including Jalandhar MP and former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, skipping the programme organised by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
Since July 1, when the Congress high command retained Warring as state unit head, several senior leaders associated with the Channi faction have stayed away from events organised under the state unit chief's leadership.
