Pune may get water supply on alternate days from next week as reservoir levels dip
India, June 5 -- With water storage in the Khadakwasla dam system dropping to around 5.7 TMC, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is considering supplying water to the city on alternate days from next week. The Water Supply Department has submitted a proposal to Municipal Commissioner Nawal Kishore Ram and has also started preparing a water-cut schedule.
Officials said the city's existing water stock may last only until the end of July if no reduction in supply is implemented. Against the requirement of 6.6 TMC for the next three months, only 5.72 TMC of water is currently available in the dam system, prompting the administration to explore stricter conservation measures.
