India, Aug. 23 -- The school education department on Saturday invited suggestions and objections from citizens on the draft Maharashtra Private Coaching Classes (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2026, aimed at regulating private coaching and tuition centres.

The draft legislation, which seeks to establish a legal framework for registration and regulation of coaching centres, has been uploaded on the department's official website. Citizens can submit their suggestions and objections till September 4, 2026.

The move follows the state government's preparation of a draft bill based on guidelines issued by the Union government on January 16, 2024, and a study of similar laws and regulations in other states.
