India, Feb. 19 -- For patients waiting anxiously for their laboratory test results that guide further treatment, the discovery that their pathology reports were signed by a doctor months after his death has come both as a shock and a cause for concern.

As per the complaint filed by the Maharashtra Association of Practising Pathologists and Microbiologists (MAPPM), a Pune-based pathologist died on November 20, 2025 but laboratory test reports bearing his signature continued to be issued after his death till January 2026, raising questions about the authenticity of these reports as well as the patients' safety.
