India, July 21 -- Police were trying to remove Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of the Congress and other MPs who marched to the official residence of the Prime Minister on Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi on Tuesday, a day after a students' march faced police action. This came after the government appeared ready for a discussion on education-related issues, but Rahul insisted that education minister Dharmendra Pradhan be asked to resign first.

Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), met Rahul soon after the march halted near the PM house, and said the government is ready for a discussion in Parliament on the students' protest-related issue on Wednesday.
