Ghaziabad, April 11 -- Four police personnel were suspended and booked for attempted murder after a 35-year-old man detained for drinking in a public place, was critically injured earlier this week after being hit by a truck while escaping from the police vehicle on the Delhi-Meerut Road in Muradnagar, a senior officer said on Friday. Family members of victim, however, alleged a cover up and that he had been tortured and assaulted in police custody. Doctors at a private hospital, where the man is being treated, told HT that he suffered a skull fracture and is in a "brain dead" and "comatose" condition.
