New Delhi, July 2 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reviewed the situation arising from deficient rainfall and directed all concerned ministries and departments to prepare for the possible impact of El Nino on the southwest monsoon, people aware of the matter said. Modi asked the concerned ministries to prepare advance contingency plans and maintain close coordination with state governments amid concerns over a weak monsoon and delayed kharif sowing across several parts of the country, so that any adverse impact on agriculture, water availability, power supply and other essential sectors can be effectively managed, they said.
