India, July 30 -- The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, a day after it was okayed by the Lok Sabha.

The bill will now be sent to President Droupadi Murmu for assent before it becomes law.

The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 was brought in after the nationwide outrage over the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak and other examination irregularities. The law criminalised organised exam fraud, but despite its enactment, the NEET paper leaked again in 2026.
