Panchkula, July 27 -- Panchkula is set to expand its electric bus network with the addition of around 40 new electric buses. The initiative is expected to reduce vehicular pollution, improve last-mile connectivity and encourage commuters to shift from private vehicles to eco-friendly public transport, officials said.

To support the expanded fleet, the Haryana government is constructing a dedicated electric bus depot on a 3.5-acre site adjacent to the main bus stand in Sector 5 at an estimated cost of Rs.13 crore. The new buses will be inducted once the depot becomes operational.
