Imphal, July 30 -- One person was killed and five others, including two CRPF personnel, injured in a gunfight between security forces and Naga volunteers during a search operation in Manipur's Bitiang on Wednesday, officials said. Meanwhile, the Working Committee of the Joint Tribes Council-Manipur - a Naga body - called for a shutdown and closure of highways, railways, and national projects across the ethnic strife-torn state's Naga-inhabited areas in protest against the alleged commando action in Noney district. According to officials, three injured were shifted to Noney district hospital while the two CRPF personnel were taken to a CRPF camp in Imphal.
