One day you'll watch me on TV: Gurindervir recalls childhood promise to mother in PM's Mann Ki Baat
New Delhi, June 1 -- Punjab-born sprinter Gurindervir Singh Pannu, who set a national record by finishing the 100-metre sprint in 10.09 seconds, in a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, recounted his struggles, sacrifices and childhood journey that culminated in creating sporting history.
During the 134th edition of his monthly radio programme "Mann Ki Baat", the Prime Minister lauded Gurindervir for his performance that has secured him a berth in the upcoming Commonwealth and Asian Games.
Responding to a question by the Prime Minister, Gurindervir narrated a childhood memory, which he said continued to motivate him even today.
