Chandigarh, May 20 -- Balancing compassion with public safety, the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) has notified timings for dog lovers to feed stray dogs in the city. The dogs are to be fed at designated zones during low-activity hours - from 7 am to 9 am and 7 pm to 9 pm in evenings. During winters, the morning timing will be advanced by an hour - from 8 to 10, while the evening timings will remain the same.

Sanitary inspectors and field staff have been directed to ensure strict compliance and regular monitoring in all sectors

Violation of the guidelines will invite fines up to Rs.13,000.
