Nomination for RS polls ends, voting on Mar 16
New Delhi, March 6 -- Nominations for 37 Rajya Sabha seats going to the polls across 10 states later this month were filed on Thursday with contests likely in Odisha and Bihar.
In Maharashtra, where seven seats are falling vacant, the Bharatiya Janata Party fielded four candidates - including Union minister Ramdas Athawale, senior leader Vinod Tawde, Maya Ivnate and Ramrao Wadkute. its ally Shiv Sena fielded Jyoti Waghmare and Nationalist Congress Party nominated Parth Pawar. The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi picked senior NCP (SP) patriarch Sharad Pawar as its joint nominee.
With no additional nominees being fielded by the ruling Mahayuti, all seven people are likely to be elected unopposed.
