India, Aug. 13 -- The Union ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) has directed ride-hailing aggregators to remove tipping prompts or interface features that appear before a ride is completed, saying such mechanisms could improperly influence passengers' decisions and create an impression that paying extra could improve service. The directive, issued on Tuesday, follows the ministry's attention being drawn to prompts displayed by aggregators, including "Advance Tip" and "Choose an Add-on", and messages suggesting that a tip could improve the chances of quicker ride confirmation or driver acceptance.
