Nit-kurukshetrasuicides: rights Panel asks for detailed report
Karnal, April 24 -- The Haryana Human Rights Commission has initiated a detailed inquiry into the recent cases of suicide at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, while stressing that educational institutions are responsible not only for academics but also for the physical and mental well-being of students.
Taking a suo motu cognizance of an April 19 Hindustan Times report, which stated that students were asked to vacate hostels following the incidents, the commission directed the authorities to submit their findings at least a week before the next hearing on May 19.
