New York firm to design RIL's Coastal Road 'green necklace'
India, Sept. 19 -- Work on the 'green necklace' to be developed by Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) along Mumbai's Coastal Road will begin soon and will be completed in two years. The Rs.400-crore project, which will cover 70 hectares of reclaimed land, will be developed as sprawling gardens and public spaces fronting the Arabian Sea.
"We are currently in the planning stage and will start work post-monsoon. The first phase will be completed between 18 and 24 months," said a spokesperson for RIL. Work will commence as RIL has shortlisted New York-based landscape architecture firm James Corner Field Operations, which has executed projects in the US, China and Hong Kong.
