India, Aug. 18 -- The College of Engineering Pune (COEP) Technological University will soon get a new, 400-bed hostel for female students while 10 female students from financially weaker backgrounds will receive scholarships of Rs.10,000 per month for 10 months, totalling Rs.1 lakh each. Maharashtra higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil made the announcements at the university's third convocation ceremony on Sunday.

Patil said that the hostel project will be taken up on priority and that efforts will be made to mobilise the required funds through corporate social responsibility (CSR).
