India, Aug. 9 -- The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will take over maintenance of roads in the Central Vista area from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) - nearly two decades after the central agency was given the project - according to an order issued by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Friday.

The order, however, excludes Kartavya Path, which will continue to be maintained by the CPWD.

The ministry's memorandum said the NDMC will take responsibility for the upkeep, cleaning and other general municipal works on all roads in Central Vista area.
