New Delhi, Aug. 28 -- The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has ordered a comprehensive recheck of major drainage and sewerage lines, pumping stations and other critical infrastructure over waterlogging concerns in the New Delhi area, with officials being told that accountability will be fixed for avoidable flooding caused by negligence or inadequate preparedness.
The directions were issued during a detailed review meeting on waterlogging and monsoon preparedness chaired by Delhi minister Parvesh Verma and New Delhi Municipal Council chairman Manoj Dwivedi in the wake of recent waterlogging at key Lutyens' Delhi areas.
"Waterlogging in NDMC areas due to negligence will not be tolerated," Verma said in a post on social media.
