Shimla, Aug. 24 -- Denying the allegations of disrespecting the National Anthem in the state legislative assembly, former chief minister and leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur accused Congress of spreading "false and misleading propaganda" by accusing BJP members of insulting the National Anthem.

Jai Ram stated this while speaking to mediapersons on Sunday after BJP legislators and party leaders led by him sang all six stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' along with the National Anthem on The Ridge in Shimla amid escalating political row over the alleged disrespect of the National Anthem and the singing of 'Vande Mataram' during the first day of the assembly's monsoon session.
