Pune, Oct. 4 -- Wholesale onion prices have started easing in Nashik after remaining high for nearly a month, with fresh arrivals from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh putting downward pressure on rates at Lasalgaon, the country's largest onion market.

Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) officials said increased arrivals of fresh kharif onions from the two southern states had given buyers more options, affecting demand for Nashik onions.

In early September, good-quality onions were selling wholesale at around Rs.55 per kg at Lasalgaon, while inferior-quality onions fetched around Rs.45 per kg.
