RAIPUR, Aug. 12 -- A 24-year-old woman from Mumbai was killed on Wednesday morning after her motorcycle was hit by an unidentified heavy vehicle in Chhattisgarh's Balod district, police said. She was part of a 20-member biking group that was travelling to the Bastar region.

The accident took place around 6 am at Markatola Ghat under Purur police station limits on National Highway 30, roughly 100 km from state capital Raipur.

Police identified the victim as Riddhi Thakkar, a resident of Borivali (West) in Mumbai. She was riding a Bajaj Avenger as part of a touring group comprising motorcyclists from Maharashtra and other states who had gathered in Raipur before heading towards Bastar.
