New Delhi, July 8 -- The latest version of the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS 5.0), launched to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), airlines and other businesses cope with disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict, has issued more than 4.11 lakh guarantees worth Rs.1.55 lakh crore in just two months, the finance ministry said on Tuesday. The Union Cabinet approved the scheme on May 5 with an outlay of Rs.18,100 crore to facilitate additional credit of up to Rs.2.55 lakh crore. The scheme provides government-backed guarantees to encourage banks and financial institutions to extend additional credit to businesses facing cash-flow pressures.
