MSC to buy 49% in Adani Vizhinjam port for $1.4 bn
Ahmedabad, July 1 -- Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) on Tuesday said Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), the container terminal arm of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Group, will acquire a 49% stake in Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited (AVPPL) in a transaction valuing the Kerala transshipment port at $ 2.85 billion.
TiL will invest $1.397 billion for the 49% stake, while APSEZ will retain majority ownership of the port, the company said in a statement. The transaction is subject to regulatory and other customary approvals, it said.
TiL operates more than 100 container terminals across five continents and handles over 70 million TEUs annually as part of the MSC Group.
