BHOPAL, Aug. 14 -- An electricity department staffer who entered a house in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district to take a power consumption reading sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a homeowner's three dogs, police said on Friday.

Police said the victim, Ravindra Rajawat, suffered at least 17 bite wounds across his body before he was rescued and rushed to a local hospital.

Jitendra Singh, in-charge of the Hazira police station, said a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the homeowner, Beeru Tomar, a resident of Indira Nagar. Police are currently attempting to trace Tomar to place him under arrest.
