Lucknow, Aug. 21 -- Less than six months before the 2027 assembly polls, the Uttar Pradesh government faces the challenge of ensuring the timely use of a large chunk of budgetary funds earmarked for various development schemes to make a visible impact on the ground.

The funds were allocated in the state's Rs.9.12 lakh crore annual budget presented in February and the over Rs.59,000 crore first supplementary budget tabled on August 4 this year.

Effectively, about four months remain to utilise the budget and supplementary budget funds by the end of 2026, as the poll notification is likely to be issued in January 2027.
