Monsoon finally enters Mumbai after long delay; IMD issues warning for heavy rain
India, June 23 -- Eagerly awaited southwest monsoon finally arrived in Maharashtra's Mumbai on Tuesday amid heavy rain in the city and adjoining areas that started on Monday as part of pre-monsoon showers, prompting the IMD to issue warnings.
A nascent revival of the southwest monsoon over Maharashtra was expected to take it over Mumbai in next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday, while clarifying that the rain received by India's commercial capital were, in fact, pre-monsoon showers, HT reported earlier.
