India, Oct. 7 -- The first supermoon of the year lit up the sky on Monday night across parts of the world as skywatchers witnessed a full moon closest to the autumn equinox. Also known as the Harvest Moon, the moon appeared up to 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than the faintest moon of the year, according to NASA.
In India, the supermoon was seen across the country on the evening of October 6 and into the early hours of October 7. The full moon phase was predicted to occur at 11:48 pm EDT on October 6 (9:18 am IST on October 7).
