India, May 14 -- Mumbai Indians are set to have a third captain leading the side in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. With regular captain Hardik Pandya out injured and stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav unable to travel to Dharamsala for the upcoming match against Punjab Kings, the team will have a new leader at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium.

Mumbai Indians announced Jasprit Bumrah as the captain just half an hour before the toss on Thursday. The Instagram post was captioned: "A kid with a unique action bowled yorkers at will. That same kid, now a legend of the game will lead the Blue & Gold in Dharamshala. A journey to be proud of, Captain Jasprit!"
