India, April 2 -- Uttamnagar police arrested four people on Wednesday after busting a mephedrone (MD) drug racket operating in the city.

The action was initiated based on a tip-off received by senior police inspector Raghavendra Kshirsagar regarding the movement of a suspect, identified as Sunil Gopal Rathod, in the Sinhagad Shrushti area. Acting on the information, a police team laid a trap and apprehended Rathod.

During the search, police recovered around 3 grams of mephedrone (MD) and two mobile phones from the accused. Preliminary investigation of the mobile data revealed financial transactions of nearly Rs.10 lakh through online payment platforms.
