India, April 3 -- The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has finalised a pilot project to introduce smart water meters to improve billing accuracy.
Officials said 230 residents of Suncity township in Sector 54 and 30 from Sushant Lok Phase 1 will participate in the project. The move comes amid concerns that conventional mechanical meters are prone to tampering, leading to inaccurate records.
Officials said the project's cost estimate is being prepared, after which tenders will be floated.
Smart water meters provide real-time and highly accurate measurements, unlike conventional mechanical meters which rely on manual readings.
