PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 25 -- A 24-year-old MBBS student of a government medical college in Pratapgarh was found dead in the hostel courtyard under mysterious circumstances on Sunday morning, police said. His spectacles and two mobile phones were recovered from the roof of the seven-storey hostel building, but the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, they added.

A native of Ballia district, the student enrolled in the MBBS programme in 2024 and was appearing for supplementary examinations after failing his first-semester papers, college officials said. He took an examination on Saturday and was scheduled to appear for another on Monday. He lived on the second floor of the hostel with a fellow student.
