Mayawati against demand for quota on economic grounds
LUCKNOW, Aug. 23 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday said the demand to implement reservation on economic grounds against the reservations provided to the SC, ST and OBC communities in the Constitution is not appropriate or in the interest of the nation.
In a post on X, she wrote, "The people who gathered at Janta Mantar recently demanding reservation on economic grounds should not engage in or allow cheap politics on such an important and sensitive issue as reservation. They should not undertake any action regarding reservation that harms the constitutional efforts to build an egalitarian society and a developed country."
