Maoist carrying Rs.5-lakh reward killed in C'garh encounter: cops
Raipur, March 30 -- A Maoist cadre carrying a reward of Rs.5 lakh was killed in an encounter with security forces in Sukma district on Sunday, police said.
The exchange of fire took place in a forested and hilly area under Polampalli police station limits, where a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) had launched a search operation based on intelligence inputs about Maoist presence.
Superintendent of Police, Sukma, Kiran Chavan, said the DRG team and the Maoist had been exchanging intermittent firing since morning. "During the search of the encounter site, the body of one male Maoist along with a weapon was recovered," Chavan said.
