India, Sept. 13 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday met the two factions of the Trinamool Congress staking claim to the party's name, symbol and organisational control, ahead of the by-elections in two assembly seats in West Bengal.

This came amid an ongoing tug-of-war between the Mamata Banerjee-loyalists and the rebels led by West Bengal Leader of the Opposition, Ritabrata Banerjee preparing for their first electoral battle in the October 6 bypolls to Nandigram and Rejinagar.
