mumbai, Aug. 9 -- The Maharashtra government is set to give final clearance to a Rs.100-crore upgrade plan for Baramati airport, six months after deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar died in a crash there on January 28. A foam tender will be purchased, alongside a fire station, technical block, emergency room and a prefabricated air traffic control tower. The runway will be recarpeted, said officials. Authorities will also build a runway end safety area - a 90-metre buffer at both ends of the runway to arrest aircraft that overshoot or undershoot on landing.P6
