Ludhiana MC's power plant proposal delays waste management project
Ludhiana, Aug. 21 -- The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation's proposal for having a power plant that converts waste into electricity has emerged as a key hurdle in finalising a new integrated waste management system for the city.
In March, the civic body had floated a Rs.1,400-crore tender for an integrated waste management project aimed at managing waste from door-to-door collection through to its disposal. However, the tender was subsequently cancelled, following which the state government floated a fresh tender at its own level for waste management services in cities across the state.
